BIO

He is a PhD candidate in the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia, with a research object in Organic Music Performance (Laïkí Kithára – Greek Folk Guitar). He graduated from the same Department, having completed the Postgraduate degree «Musical Arts», with the specialization «Greek Music Traditions: Performance and Performance (Folk Guitar)», as well as the Undergraduate degree, with the specialty «Poetry (Art of composition – Composition – Poetry) in Traditional Music. ”He also studied at the Department of Music Studies of the University of Ioannina and at the Music School» Emmeleia «of Nafpaktos.

He composes music, with his record and concert projects being performed periodically. He collaborates with the event organization and promotion office of young artists of Unmute Records. In 2021, with the support of the office, he released his personal album, entitled «Poetics’ Underground». He is active in the wider music scene as a performing musician (folk, acoustic, classical and electric guitar, electric bass, sampling, vocals) and orchestrator with local artists performing recordings and concerts in Greece and abroad.

He teaches in music schools and conservatories of Greece and delivers from time to time the interactive and applied seminar – workshop, entitled: «Folk Guitar 101: Modality | Harmonization | Improvisation «. At the same time, he is engaged in the research field of Greek urban folk/popular music and focuses on the systematic musicological analysis of the material, actively participating in musicological conferences and workshops.

SEMINAR – WORKSHOP

Laïkí Kithára (Greek Folk Guitar) 101

Modality | Harmonization | Improvisation

This interactive workshop is accessible to all levels of guitarists and musicians who mix with Greek musical traditions. Focusing on the technical and stylistic peculiarities of the folk guitar, the attendee comes in contact with basic elements of modality, harmonization and improvisation. The instructor provides material for the subsequent study, while personalized counseling is not omitted for each participant who needs further guidance. All that is needed is a will for focused knowledge and renegotiation with the instrument, the musical act and Greek music as a whole.
